Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at Samuel Pepys, I experienced a mix of culinary delights and overlooked details. The breakfast was a highlight, offering a generous spread that included a delightful range of fresh fruits, a rarity in many establishments. The made-to-order cooked options complemented the continental selections well. My mornings were slightly marred by poor coffee choices, with only Nescafe available, lacking the richness I cherish. Despite the room's ample size, February's heat made it uncomfortable as the radiator seemed unmanageable. The ambiance of the bar and dining area was inviting, ideally situated just a short walk from the picturesque harbor. While the location is quiet and convenient for a ferry connection, the nuances of culinary experience invite further attention. Samuel Pepys has promise with its offerings but leaves some areas for improvement.
